We’re a respected urgent care center that’s been serving patients since 2019, and we’re pleased to perform these physicals for members of the trucking industry.

What to Expect During a DOT Physical

Will this be your first time attending a DOT physical? If so, you might be unsure of what to expect. Per the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers must undergo these physicals once every two years to confirm that they’re physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy enough to maintain a commercial driver’s license (CDL). During your physical, a certified medical examiner (CME) will:

  • Ask you about your medical history
  • Check your vitals
  • Examine your eyes, ears, mouth, throat, heart, lungs, spine, nervous system, extremities, and general appearance
  • Electronically report your results to the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME) and provide you with a copy of your DOT medical card (if you pass the exam)

The Convenient Choice for Drivers With Busy Schedules

Like many of our patients, commercial drivers often find it difficult to make appointments during nine-to-five business hours. Luckily, at Erlanger ExpressCare, we never require appointments! Our DOT physicals are offered on a walk-in basis, so you can stop in whenever it’s easiest for you. What’s more, we’re open every day of the week with extended hours, so you can still get your physical completed even if you’re only free in the evenings or on weekends.
