As part of our commitment to fostering healthy communities, Erlanger ExpressCare is pleased to offer a full spectrum of routine clinical lab testing on a walk-in basis. This includes testing for tuberculosis (TB), a contagious and potentially serious bacterial infection that affects the lungs. Possible symptoms of an active TB infection include:

  • A persistent cough that lasts longer than three weeks
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Chest tightness or pain that worsens when coughing or breathing
  • Coughing that produces blood or mucus
  • Unusual fatigue
  • Fever and/or chills
  • Night sweats

A TB infection can also be “latent,” meaning that bacteria is present but the body’s immune system is keeping it at bay and preventing noticeable symptoms. However, it’s still important to identify latent TB infections and promptly treat them, as they may turn into active infections if left unaddressed.
